Step 1
In a blender or food processor, process the oats until roughly ground.
Step 2
Add the Redpath® Golden Yellow Sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. Pulse until finely ground and the dry ingredients are well mixed.
Step 3
Add the frozen banana slices, oat milk beverage, tahini and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Step 4
Pour into 4 glasses. Sprinkle the tops with toasted sesame seeds, cinnamon, and sliced banana. Serve immediately.
*Redpath® Dark Brown Sugar or Redpath® Demerara Style Sugar can be used in place of the Redpath Golden Yellow Sugar. Note that using either of these sugars will result in an end-product with a more pronounced caramel or earthy undertone and a slightly darker colour.
*For best results, use ripe bananas. Alternatively, store-bought frozen bananas can be used in a pinch.
*Look for ripe bananas in the produce clearance section at your grocery store for same-day use and to reduce waste.
*To freeze bananas quickly, thinly slice them and lay them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place into the freezer for about 20 to 30 minutes. Alternatively, use fresh bananas, adding about 1 to 2 cups of ice cubes to the blender or food processor. This may result in a slightly watered-down and not as creamy version of this recipe.
*Peanut butter or any nut or seed butter (e.g. almond, cashew, hazelnut, sunflower, pumpkin seed) can be substituted for the tahini. Note that the recipe will no longer be nut-free.
