Step 3

Remove about ½ cup of buttercream and place into a small bowl. Divide the remaining buttercream into 3 medium bowls.

Step 4

Add the cocoa powder to the small bowl of buttercream and mix well. Add a few drops of black gel food colouring until the desired colour is reached.

Step 5

Add orange gel food colouring to one of the bowls and mix, adding a few drops at a time until the desired colour is reached.

Step 6

Add light green gel food colouring to a second bowl of buttercream and mix, adding a few drops at a time until the desired colour is reached.

Step 7

Leave the remaining medium bowl of buttercream uncoloured (white).

For the jack-o’-lanterns:

Step 1

Fit a medium ribbon or basketweave piping tip into a piping bag. Fill with orange buttercream.

Step 2

Place a small ribbon or basket weave piping tip into a piping bag. Fill with black buttercream.

Step 3

On a cooled brownie, pipe vertical stripes of orange buttercream to mimic the surface of a pumpkin. Repeat the process with 2 other brownies.

Step 4

With the black buttercream, pipe the desired jack-o’-lantern face onto the orange brownie, ensuring the orange stripes are vertical. Repeat the process with the remaining two brownies.
